Omar Zoboli was born in Modena (Italy). He studied oboe with Sergio Possidoni, Heinz Holliger and Paul Dombrecht and gained excellent experience and inspiration working with Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Frans Brüggen. His international reputation is largely due to his first recordings (the CD dedicated to Antonino Pasculli, the “Paganini of the oboe”, among others) that were received with great acclaim, and which led to engagements at various festivals and with major orchestras in Berlin, Paris, Warsaw, Milan, London, Lugano, Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Japan and the United States.
Many composers have dedicated works to him. He has recorded 30 Lps and CDs with works that best represent the oboe repertoire of the last three centuries.
Omar Zoboli has been principal oboe of the radio orchestras of Lugano and Naples, of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra and of the Basel Chamber Orchestra, and has played Baroque and Classical Oboes with Concentus Musicus Wien (Nikolaus Harnoncourt), Il Giardino Armonico (Giovanni Antonini), Scintilla Orchester Zurich, and I Barocchisti (Diego Fasolis).
He has been invited to give master classes in Europa, South America and China. He is currently teaching oboe and chamber music at the Basel Music Academy
