Alice Ferrière, Mezzo-Soprano.

After a master’s degree in history and political science at the Sorbonne, the mezzo-soprano from Reunion Island devoted herself fully to opera singing. She completed her vocal training in Austria at the University of Music and Dramatic Art in Vienna. In 2012, she obtained her master with honors.

In 2013, she distinguished herself at international competitions such as «Das Lied» in Berlin under the direction of Thomas Quasthoff or «Vokal Genial» in Munich under the direction of Brigitte Fassbaender.

In 2016, she was a laureate of the French Music Academy of Michel Plasson and deepened her repertoire of French melodies and operas with José Van Dam & Sophie Koch. She is currently perfecting her vocal technique with Anna-Maria Panzarella.

Alice Ferrière has solid stage experience. Her velvety and very flexible mezzo-soprano voice makes her a choice interpreter for baroque and classical operas (Handel, Mozart, Rossini).

She sings under the direction of conductors such as Wolfgang Schmid, Konrad Junghänel, Paul Daniel, Michael Schønwandt, Hugo Reyne, Daniel Montané. She has performed in Vienna : Musikverein, Konzerthaus, Gesellschaft für Musiktheater, Bank Austria Salon im alten Rathaus, LEO Theater …, in France : notably at the opera of Bordeaux, Limoges, Toulon, Montpellier, at festivals
such as La Grange aux Pianos, Laval Opera Festival, etc.

Alice Ferrière has a particular interest in the interpretation of melodies and Lieder, which she perfected in Vienna in the class of pianist Charles Spencer and during masterclasses with Susan Manoff, Wolfgang Holzmair, etc. Since 2013, she has been exploring and expanding this repertoire in duo or chamber ensemble. She regularly gives recitals in Austria, France and Reunion.

It seems natural to have chosen to highlight this musical and poetic universe on record. Her first album «Nuit exquise» recorded with pianist Sascha El Mouissi and released on the Paraty label in 2020, brings together German lieder and French melodies around the theme of the night. This new opus «Clara notre étoile» pays tribute to the female composer Clara Schumann. It gathers lieder composed by the German romantic trio formed by the couple Robert and Clara Schumann and Johannes Brahms.

Alice Ferrière is also a committed artist. Since 2011, she initiates, notably through the association «Trajectoires» that she co-founded, various actions to promote classical music to a wide audience on her native island and on the French territory. In 2020, she founded the company «Ô lyric» to develop educational projects around lyrical art (concerts, performances, workshops, video guides, meetings, podcasts …). The last ones are : «A la rencontre de Mozart» in 2022 in co-production with the ACAR for the Academy of Reunion Island and «Orphée”interactive opera played in March 2023 in Reunion Island.
