Pierre Chastellain

Born in Geneva (1947). Received an engineering degree from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (1971). Began his professional singing career (1973).

Performed numerous shows in Switzerland, France, Belgium, and Quebec (1973 to 1982). Released his first single “Quatre et quart” (1973). Released his first album “Les mots trahissent”, arranged by Léon Francioli (1974). Second album “Pierre Chastellain”, arranged by Jean-François Bovard (1976). Recorded a single, “Dans les jardins du monde”, for Terre des Hommes (1977).

Represented Switzerland at the Spa Festival (Belgium, 1977). Represented Switzerland with Zouc and Michel Bühler at the Tabarka Festival (Tunisia, 1977). Performed with Yvette Théraulaz at the Petit Théâtre de l’Odéon in Paris (1978).

Third album “Partage”, arranged by Jean-Yves Petiot (early 1978). Fourth album “Ellenberger-Thuillard”, arranged by Jacques Walmond (late 1978).

Objected and was imprisoned at the Plaine de l’Orbe Penitentiary (1978). In collaboration with Anne-Catherine Ménétrey and the Martin Luther King Center, wrote a book titled “OBJECTION VOTRE HONNEUR !… ou le procès Chastellain et l’objection de conscience en Suisse”, published by Éditions d’En Bas (1979).

Represented Switzerland at the Quebec Summer Festival (1979). From 1973 to 1982, opened for Henri Tachan, Carlos, Pierre Perret, Juliette Gréco …

Resumed his career as a transportation engineer (1983). Simultaneously worked on promoting major shows in the media. Hosted a segment on Mobility for 18 months on the program “On en Parle” – RTS La Première (2005-2006).

Wrote songs and performed in “VALSE A TROIS TONS”, a grand spectacle celebrating the 100th anniversary of PostBus (2007).

Compilation of 19 songs on a CD titled “PAVILLON LARGE – retour sur quelques plages…”, by his record label VDE-GALLO (2008).

Wrote the script and performed in the musical comedy “LA RIVIERA PREND SON TEMPS… aux Pays des Merveilles” (see “www.larivieravaudoise.ch“), (2014).
