The Plein Vent Choir
Foundation: The Plein Vent Choir was founded in 1948 within the Vaud scouting movement, and very quickly opened its ranks to all friends of singing.
Affiliation and concerts: Since 1964, it has been affiliated with the International Choral Movement À Cœur Joie, giving numerous concerts each year in Switzerland and abroad (Valenciennes, Dijon, Le Puy, Tournon, Valence, etc.). The singers of Plein Vent have taken part several times in the Choralies of Vaison-la-Romaine, in Quebec, and in the Singing Weeks in Morocco. It also collaborates regularly with Radio Romande broadcasts.
Repertoire: Its repertoire ranges from Renaissance polyphonies to contemporary composers, from art songs to folk music and harmonized modern songs, from Roland de Lassus and Josquin des Prés to Gilles Vigneault or Léo Ferré.
Work and direction: Perhaps it is in the field of renewing the repertoire of our mixed choirs that Plein Vent, for several years now, has done considerable work, constantly seeking out scores never heard before, or forgotten, and bringing them to light. The choir has been conducted since day one by Nicolas Ruffieux, an instructor with the À Cœur Joie movement. In addition to his intense activity in French-speaking Switzerland, he has been invited to lead workshops or choral singing sessions at the Choralies of Vaison-la-Romaine, in Morocco, in France, and in Belgium.
Spirit and message: In producing this record, Plein Vent has had no other aim than to share with you its joy of living and singing, echoing Canadian Georges Dor’s words:
“You will hear my heart beat, and I yours, if you give me your warmth, I will give you my song!”
