The Spanish pianist Carlos Gil-Gonzalo studied in his hometown of Madrid in the piano classes of Prof. Dimitri Bashkirov and Prof. Claudio Martinez Mehner, as well as attending the Queen Sofia School of Music with the support of Banco Santander and the Albéniz Foundation. In 2014, he completed his Bachelor studies, later earning his Master of Arts in Music Pedagogy at the Musikhochschule Basel, where he studied under Claudio Martinez Mehner and Tobias Schabenberger. In 2015, he worked on a project initiated by the University of Basel about the composer Erwin Schulhoff, where he was tasked with the transcription of audio recordings from Radio Prague. As a soloist, he has been invited to the Festival Dino Ciani in Italy, and has performed in concerts in Spain, France, Germany, and New Zealand. The pianist, who currently lives in Basel, works as a piano teacher, an accompanist at the Basel Boys’ Choir, and is presenting his new project: “PraeludiUm”, where he performs works by Chopin, Scriabin, and Rachmaninov. Carlos joined the International Community Music School Basel (ICMS) in 2017, and has become involved in contemporary music projects with the Basler Sinfonietta.
