Paola Furetta, a talented cellist and guest professor at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music (PIMS) in Rome, continues to enrich the world of classical music. Through her dedication to education, she has developed music training courses at this prestigious institution and teaches cello and string ensemble music at several leading music academies.

A Distinguished and Innovative Academic Career

Paola Furetta has left a lasting impression as a “specialist music professor,” notably through her creation of a unique program exploring the interaction between Art and Music. Her expertise was sought after by the University of Sonora in Mexico, where she taught instrumental and pedagogical musical specialization.

A Solid Foundation with Renowned Masters

Paola Furetta began her musical training at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva and refined her craft under the guidance of prominent mentors such as W. Grimmer and F. Hotz. She earned her diploma in instrumental teaching at the Conservatory of Neuchâtel before continuing her studies at the G. Verdi Conservatory in Milan with G. Beluffi. She further specialized in contemporary music with G. Boselli and studied under T. Yamashita at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland. Her time at the W. Stauffer Academy in Cremona with R. Filippini greatly enriched her technique and artistic style.

Celebrated in Italy and abroad, Paola Furetta shines as both a soloist and a duo performer, often focusing on contemporary repertoire. Her collaborations with prestigious orchestras, such as the Geneva Symphony Orchestra, the RAI Orchestra in Rome, and the Calabrian Philharmonic, reflect her artistic prominence and versatility.

Always striving for growth, Paola Furetta earned a Postgraduate degree in string instrument pedagogy at the Conservatory of Italian Switzerland. In Italy, she achieved a Master’s degree in MusicArTherapy in the Globality of Languages. She has also completed specialized training, including the Orff-Schulwerk method and E.E. Gordon’s approach to music theory learning.

Artistic Contributions and Publications

Paola Furetta shares her musical vision through various platforms. She produced the Radio Vatican program Una rivoluzione attraverso il violoncello and published a collection of poems, Bifocale, with Bagatto Libri in Rome. Her innovative teaching methods are encapsulated in her book Cello Book-Cello – Lezioni di Violoncello, and her artistry is showcased in the CD Cello Style, released by Bongiovanni Musica in Bologna.
