DE ANIMA

Reading “On the Soul” by François Cheng in December 2018 was a revelation for me: the explanations of the role of the soul in our lives helped me to understand and accept the human condition. In addition, the passages on the soul and music are beautiful and as a musician, it sparked the idea of making a CD linking excerpts from the book with music. So I chose solo harp pieces that have been with me for many years and that speak to the soul.

Anne Bassand

Born in Geneva, Anne Bassand studies the harp with Catherine Eisenhoffer to the Conservatory of Music of her home town, then with Marie-Claire Jamet to the „Ecole Normale“ of Paris, before perfecting with Susann McDonald at the University of Indiana (USA). She also benefited from the teaching of Pierre Jamet and of the pianist György Sebök. In 1992, she is a prize-winner of the International Harp Competition of the United States.

Fascinated by contemporary music, she is a member of the « Ensemble Contrechamps » in Geneva and participle in numerous creations. She has create for solo harp “Phalange” of Arthur Kampela ( 1995 ) and “Refrain” of William Blank ( 2012 ).
