Fictions brings together guitarist and composer Rémy Souvay (Trio Toucher, 100 Tanka Songs; Hotel Parker, Le temps de l’innocence) and pianist Ana Pozuelo Alba (Orchestrales with Elise Caron and Las Malenas; Le rêve et la terre with the Orchestre de Lutetia) to draw music and words out of a narrative, blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction. In this way, the musicians reconnect with the age-old art of oral storytelling before small audiences (such as the peñas of Montevideo or the taverns of Lisbon) in their concert-readings, while following the uninterrupted flow of dialogue between their instruments, piano and guitar, infused with popular musical forms such as the milonga, tango, and fado.

Nita Bertaudière is a contemporary French artist and creator of Uruguayan origin, known for her distinctive work at the crossroads of visual arts and performance, and for the virtuosity and radiant depth of her colours, through which an endless quest for memory and identity shines forth. She honours us with her friendship and her participation in this project.

Mario Benedetti was a Uruguayan novelist, poet, and journalist, born in Pasos de los Toros on 14 September 1920 and died on 17 May 2009 in Montevideo. The theme of exile, central here to the short story, recurs in several of his works, in which he uses a style that is at times realistic and direct, at others more evocative and poetic, to denounce the absurdity of everyday routine and social conformism, while also expressing his political commitment and sympathy for the oppressed.

Fictions reúne al guitarrista y compositor Rémy Souvay (Trio Toucher, 100 Tanka Songs ; Hotel Parker, Le temps de l’innocence), y a la pianista Ana Pozuelo Alba (álbum Orchestrales con Elise Caron y Las Malenas ; Le rêve et la terre con la Orquesta de Lutetia) para hacer surgir, a partir de un relato, la música y sus palabras, y difuminar así la frontera entre lo real y la ficción.
Los músicos recuperan el arte inmemorial del relato oral ante pequeños auditorios (como las peñas de Montevideo o las tabernas de Lisboa) en sus conciertos-lectura, siguiendo el diálogo ininterrumpido entre sus instrumentos, piano y guitarra, impregnado de músicas populares como la milonga, el tango o el fado.

Nita Bertaudière es una artista y creadora francesa contemporánea, originaria de Uruguay, conocida por su trabajo en la encrucijada entre las artes visuales y la performance, y por la virtuosidad y profundidad luminosa de sus colores, donde se adivina una búsqueda constante de memoria e identidad. Tiene la amabilidad y el honor de unirse a este proyecto.

Mario Benedetti es un novelista, poeta y periodista uruguayo, nacido en Pasos de los Toros el 14 de septiembre de 1920 y fallecido el 17 de mayo de 2009 en Montevideo. El tema del exilio, central en esta narración, reaparece en varias de sus obras, donde emplea una escritura a veces realista y directa, otras más imagética y poética, para denunciar la rutina cotidiana, el conformismo social y expresar su compromiso político y su simpatía hacia los oprimidos.
