Samuel Hirsch

A violinist with a “sovereign” command of his instrument (Solothurner Zeitung), “prodigiously gifted” and whose “unfolding lines and radiant high notes” are admired (Le Temps), Samuel Hirsch trained in Lausanne with Renaud Capuçon and François Sochard, then at the Menuhin International Music Academy with Oleg Kaskiv and Guillaume Chilemme. He later perfected his skills with Corina Belcea, first violin of the Belcea Quartet.

He is a prizewinner of numerous competitions, including the A. Grumiaux International Competition in Brussels, and was nominated for the City of Lausanne Youth Prize.

He has performed on major stages such as the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Berlin Philharmonie and the Rosey Concert Hall, as well as at prestigious festivals including the Zermatt Music Festival, Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad, Week-End Musical de Pully, Lavaux Classic, the Schubertiades d’Espace 2 and the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades.

His desire to share music widely with audiences led him to found the Les Concerts de la Thièle festival in Yverdon-les-Bains in 2023.

Marie-Christine Pasche

A pianist praised for the depth of her interpretations and the penetrating quality of her touch, Marie-Christine Pasche grew up in Lausanne, where she began studying piano at the age of six at the ESML with Sylvianne Terribilini, obtaining her certificate. At 16, she entered Marc Pantillon’s professional class at the Neuchâtel Conservatory. She attended several masterclasses, notably with Paul Badura-Skoda, who praised her exceptional musicality. During her participation in the Vienna VIP Academy at the age of 21, she performed as a soloist with the Vienna Bach Consort. In parallel, she studied lyrical singing at the Lausanne Conservatory, sang in several choirs and played harpsichord with the Orchestre des Collèges under the direction of Jacques Pache.

She then joined the concert class of Professor Eckart Heiligers at the Hochschule für Musik in Zurich, where she also worked on chamber music and Lied, as well as fortepiano and harpsichord with Johann Sonnleitner and Andreas Staier. She obtained her concert diploma in 2006. A scholarship holder at the Orford Academy in Canada from 2013 to 2019, she refined her artistry there with John Perry, André Laplante, Dang Thai Son, Ronan O’Hora and others. She has performed as a soloist at the Orford Festival and at the Klaviersommer Cochem in Germany.

Marie-Christine Pasche performs frequently in Switzerland and in several European countries, as both soloist and chamber musician, at venues such as the Victoria Hall in Geneva, the Salle de Musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds and the Ehrbar Saal in Vienna. She has also benefited from the guidance of Paul Coker.

A highly appreciated accompanist, she was a professor at the Bern Conservatory, teaching piano and chamber music, before returning to settle in Lausanne with her husband.

In 2018, she created and became artistic director of the concert series “Piano & Chamber Music at St-Jean”.
